FCP-Nets: extending constrained CP-nets with objective functions
نویسندگان
چکیده
CP-Nets are a framework for dealing with qualitative preferences, both conditional and unconditional. They have received a lot of attention recently, and many extensions have been provided. In particular, the framework of constrained CP-Nets aims to choose, amongst the solutions that satisfy a set of constraints, the preferred one. While the semantics of CP-Nets allows for cycles (and, indeed, cyclic CP-Nets occur in real-life problems), current algorithms are not always able to select the preferred solution in the presence of cycles. This means that, although there might exist feasible solutions, current algorithms are unable (in unlucky instances) to provide a preferred solution, and they simply fail, providing no answer to the user. In this work, we propose FCP-Net, that is, a framework that adds an objective function to a constrained CP-Net. The objective function (essential in many constraint applications) is able to convey quantitative information into the CP-Net. Besides the higher expressivity of FCP-Nets, we are able to provide a single, best preferred solution in all feasible instances (those in which there is at least a solution), paving the way to a wider use of CP-Nets in practical applications.

Extending CP-Nets with Stronger Conditional Preference Statements
A logic of conditional preferences is defined, with a language which allows the compact representation of certain kinds of conditional preference statements, a semantics and a proof theory. CP-nets can be expressed in this language, and the semantics and proof theory generalise those of CP-nets. Despite being substantially more expressive, the formalism maintains important properties of CP-nets...

متن کاملAggregating CP-nets with Unfeasible Outcomes
We consider settings where a collection of agents express preferences over a set of candidates with a combinatorial structure via the use of CP-nets, and we need to exploit the information contained in the CP-nets to choose one of the candidates. Moreover, there is a set of constraints which defines the unfeasible candidates, which cannot be the result of the preference aggregation. We propose ...
متن کاملUsing Interval Petri Nets and Timed Automata for Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DES)
A discrete event system (DES) is a dynamic system that evolves in accordance with the abrupt occurrence, at possibly unknown irregular intervals, of physical events. Because of the special nature of these systems, different tools are currently used for their analysis, design and modeling. The main focus of this paper is the presentation of a new modeling approach of Discrete Event Systems. The ...
